Yep, but you can use vineagar to remove it!!! Just rinse it out, and no, your hair won't smell wierd!

As a previous wearer of dreadlocks. The answer is yes, but it depends on what kind of wax you use. The cheaper brands will turn white after a while. So, it is recommended that you wash out hairstyles with wax in it after a certain period of time. Gel will do the same thing, depending on what kind of gel you use. It will curl up and turn into brown flakes, which looks nasty. :)
